South Korea’s women’s national football team will now travel in business class for major international competitions, marking a significant policy shift toward greater equity in national team support.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced that the women’s squad competing in the March 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup will receive the same business class seating arrangements as the men’s national team. Previously, differences in travel class had drawn criticism, as the men’s team typically flew business while the women’s team often traveled in economy.
For years, some players had called for the policy to be revised, highlighting concerns about fairness and athlete welfare—especially given the physical demands of long-haul international travel before major tournaments.
Beginning this year, the updated policy will extend beyond World Cup finals to include other major competitions such as AFC official tournaments, the Asian Games, and the Olympic Games. This formal commitment ensures that the women’s national team will receive business class support at key international events moving forward.
The decision has been welcomed as a meaningful step toward equal treatment and improved conditions for female athletes representing South Korea on the global stage.
